Causeway Bay
Causeway Bay is Hong Kong's number one haven for shopping lovers. Unlike Central, which offers an impressive line-up of super high-end boutiques with largely unaffordable products, this place is geared towards a broader section of the population. But it still remains cool and fashion-conscious! Here you will literally get an opportunity to rub elbows with the locals as there are always throngs of people moving about. The upside in that is that there is a splendid variety of stores that with very generous opening hours. You should be able to find just about any global consumer brand around here, but not at the lowest possible prices. If want to go hunting for the greatest bargains, you might be better off in Mong Kok. LocationCauseway Bay is located on the north side of Hong Kong island, just one subway stop east of Wanchai. If you travel by MTR, the exits will take you straight into shopping malls like the monumental thirteen-floor "Jumbo" Sogo department store. The flurry of shopping malls is centred around the big Yee Wo street crossing, which can also be reached by taking the tram. There are many hotels in the area as well, which could make for great places to stay if you want a central location close to lots of shopping. Just like other parts of downtown Hong Kong, there are plenty of eating places around that offer a wide variety of deliciousness. You will notice, though, that there is so much competition for the space in Causeway Bay that most of them are not located on street level. Instead, you will see each entrance invite you to a number of restaurants located at different floors that can be reached by elevator. If you ever doubted Hong Kong's size, you ought to be set straight by the hordes of shoppers who flock to these malls, where retailers pay some of the highest rents in the world to do business. Once known for it's Japanese department stores, Sogo is now all that remains. Instead, new behemoths have sprung up, such as Times Square. Besides being one of the biggest shopping malls in Hong Kong, like its New York namesake, the plaza outside is a big gathering point during New Year celebrations. For a different shopping experience, you might check out the traditional Chinese markets in the streets just west of Times Square, where you can find utterly fresh groceries on sale! Some other great shopping spots include: - Fashion Walk
- Jardine's Crescent
- Lee Gardens
- Windsor House

Noonday GunThe only notable historic tourist sight around here is the Noonday Gun up on the shoreline. It is a small former naval cannon that is fired every day at noon, and has been fired for most of the history of Hong Kong. The gun is operated by Jardine Matheson, a legendary trading company in Hong Kong which has played a major role in the city's history ever since the opium days.
